Why you need a launderette for duvets

Most home washing machines hold 7–8kg. A double duvet weighs around 2–3kg dry but needs room to move in the drum to wash properly. That means you need at least a 10–12kg machine. A king-size needs 14kg. A super-king needs 20kg or more.

We have 14kg and 20kg machines specifically for this. You can use them yourself or drop your duvet off and we'll wash and dry it for you.

How to prepare your duvet

Check the care label before you bring it in. Most duvets can be machine washed at 40°C or 60°C. If the label says dry-clean only, bring it to our dry cleaning counter instead.

Remove the duvet cover before washing. Wash the cover separately in one of our standard machines.

Common questions

How long does it take to wash and dry a duvet?
Around 45–60 minutes to wash and 60–90 minutes to fully dry. Allow at least 2.5 hours in total. Duvets that are not fully dry will go mouldy — make sure yours is completely dry before you take it home.
Can I drop off my duvet and come back later?
Yes. Add £5 to the machine price and we will wash and dry it for you. Drop off in the morning and collect the same day before 5pm.
My duvet label says dry-clean only. Can you help?
Yes. Take it to our dry cleaning counter rather than the self-service machines. Dry-clean-only duvets should not go in a washing machine.
Do you wash duvets with feather or down filling?
Yes, as long as the care label allows machine washing. Check the label. Most modern down duvets can be machine washed. Use a gentle cycle and make sure the duvet is fully dry before storing.
