Our machines
We have 7 washing machines and 6 tumble dryers. All take card payment. Most wash cycles take around 40 minutes. Dryers run in timed cycles.
Dryer cycles are 8–10 minutes each. Most standard loads need 2–3 cycles to dry fully.
How to use a self-service launderette
-
Choose a machine
Pick a machine that fits your load. Don't overfill — clothes need room to move. A standard load of clothes fits in 8kg. Bedding usually needs 14kg or more.
-
Add your laundry and detergent
Load your clothes and add detergent. We sell tablets and liquid at the counter if you don't have any. Use the amount specified on the detergent packaging — more is not better.
-
Select your cycle and pay
Most everyday clothes wash well on a 40°C cycle. Whites and heavily soiled items can go at 60°C. Pay by card, Apple Pay, or coins at the machine.
-
Wait or come back
Standard wash takes around 40 minutes. You can wait in the launderette — we have seating and free WiFi — or leave and come back. Do not leave your washing in the machine when it finishes or another customer will need to move it.
-
Move to a dryer
Transfer your washing to a tumble dryer. Each cycle is 8–10 minutes. Most loads need 2–3 cycles. Take your laundry out promptly — damp clothes left in a dryer will cool down and need another cycle.
Payment
All machines accept card and coin. You can also pay at the counter.
What to sort before washing
- Colours and whites: wash darks and colours separately from whites the first few times you wash them. After that, most colours are stable.
- Temperature: check the care label. Most everyday clothes wash at 30°C or 40°C. Towels and bedding can go at 60°C.
- Machine size: if in doubt, go bigger. An overfilled machine won't wash properly.
- Delicates: use a mesh laundry bag and a gentle cycle. Or bring them to our dry cleaning counter.
